Представлены современные сведения о заболеваемости, классификации, результатах лечения и исходах рака пищевода и рака желудка, данные о значении визуализирующих лучевых и эндоскопических методов диагностики для оптимизации принятия решения о надлежащей лечебной тактике. По данным современной специальной литературы, в сравнительном аспекте обсуждены недостатки и достоинства визуализирующих методов диагностики, значение эндоскопической ультрасонографии (ЭУС, EUS) в прецизионном стадировании опухолей оговоренных локализаций до начала противоопухолевого лечения и при мониторинге эффективности последнего.
